I recently replaced my home wireless network WGR614 with a new WNR1000v2 and now I am unable to connect connect my Nortel Avaya VPN client to my employers network. The symtoms are: the Avaya client says "failed to connect for the following reasons. Unable to reach server. The Avaya log file shows "received tunnel abort message from engine".

It seems like your between a rock and a hard place in general the Avaya (formerly Nortel) VPN client is fairly sensitive to packet loss and connectivity issues between the user and the VPN router. If you are using wireless I would highly suggest you switch to a wired connection to see if that provides a better (more stable) result.
