I have a unix machine with truecrypt 7.1a installed. I'm trying to mount a volume to test with the command line but I don't have the truecrypt command installed evidently. Did the command line functionality come with the install before the software went crazy or am I doing something crazy?

Apr 09, 2018 TrueCrypt - on-the-fly encryption - LinuxLinks TrueCrypt is a software application used for on-the-fly encryption (OTFE). It can create a “file-hosted container” or write a partition which consists of an encrypted volume with its own file system, contained within a regular file, which can then be mounted as if it were a real disk. TrueCrypt and exFAT # These steps outline how to encrypt an entire external USB hard drive with TrueCrypt 7.1a and setup the filesystem as exFAT (for large file and read/write support under modern versions of Windows, OS X, and Linux). ANY EXISTING DATA ON THE USB DRIVE WILL BE DELETED!! Use at your own risk (and joy). Tested under Windows 8.1.

I downloaded Truecrypt for linux, 32 bit. Following various methods, I checked "open with archive manager" or "save file", then on Ubuntu 12.04 I tried "run in terminal" or "run". I am not new to Truecrypt and in all cases I followed all instructions. Nothing worked even though the advice was for other people and it worked for them.

tc-play is an independently developed open-source implementation of the TrueCrypt format. It is a free command-line implementation available for Linux and DragonFly BSD under BSD license. Its disk encryption method and container format are managed by Linux Kernel via dm-crypt module. There are 32 and 64 bit versions of both the command line and graphical versions of VeraCrypt. If you don't have something specific in mind, run the 64 bit graphical one. $ ./veracrypt-1.23-setup-gui-x64 If you only have the one volume to mount, then the only advantage of using favorites would be to shorten the command, as the mountpoint, readonly status, system status, and device name would already be recorded. the command would simply be "truecrypt --mount=favorites" You will be prompted for the drive password and then the su "sudo" password. the front line. The only way to ensure TrueCrypt in Windows, now let s look at installing TrueCrypt on a Linux system. mounting it happens with one command: # truecrypt /media/USB-KEY/123
