The original question was posed in terms of inactivity timeout and session-timeout does not affect this. The configuration for inactivity is exec-timeout. This operates on the console and on the vty ports. Its default is 10 minutes and you can configure it for longer (or shorter). If you configure exec-timeout 0 it disables the inactivity timeout.
